Make crispy, juicy chicken thighs in your air fryer coated in a sweet and spicy honey garlic glaze. This recipe is simple for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha or hot sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. This helps the skin crisp.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Rub this seasoning mix evenly over all sides of the chicken thighs.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap.
  5. Air fry for 15 minutes.
  6. While the chicken cooks, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar, ginger, and minced garlic. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring until the honey dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly, about 3 to 4 minutes. Do not boil.
  7. After the initial 15 minutes of cooking, carefully flip the chicken thighs.
  8. Air fry for another 5 minutes at 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
  9. Remove the basket and brush half of the prepared honey garlic sauce over the chicken thighs.
  10. Return the chicken to the air fryer and cook for a final 3 to 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the skin is deeply browned and crisp.
  11. Remove the chicken from the air fryer. Brush with the remaining sauce before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispy skin, you can lightly spray the skin with cooking oil before the first cooking stage.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, let the sauce cool slightly after cooking; it will thicken as it cools.
  • Use boneless, skinless thighs if you prefer, but reduce the total cooking time by about 4 to 6 minutes.
