Make quick, savory garlic knots using store-bought puff pastry for a flaky, flavorful appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper to create the garlic butter. Set aside.
  3. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface.
  4. Brush the entire surface of the pastry lightly with about half of the garlic butter mixture.
  5. Cut the pastry sheet lengthwise into 8 equal strips.
  6. Take one strip and gently twist it 3 to 4 times to form a loose knot shape. Place the knot onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining strips.
  7. Brush the tops of the knots with the remaining garlic butter mixture.
  8. Brush the tops lightly with the beaten egg wash for better browning.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the knots are puffed and golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the knots before baking.
  • Serve these knots with a side of marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
  • If your pastry is too sticky to handle, chill it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes before cutting.
