Create a delightful peach cobbler using fresh, ripe peaches. This recipe is perfect for a comforting homemade dessert that highlights the natural sweetness of seasonal fruit, complemented by warm spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches with 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Toss gently to coat the peaches evenly.
  3. Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  5. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  7. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  8. Spoon the cobbler topping evenly over the peach mixture in the baking dish.
  9. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
  10. Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
  • If your peaches are not very sweet, you can increase the sugar in the peach filling slightly.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the peach mixture.
