Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large apple, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon apricot jam, warmed (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a mini muffin tin.
  2. Unroll the puff pastry sheet and sprinkle with half of the sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Cut the pastry into 4 equal strips.
  4. Arrange the apple slices along one long edge of each pastry strip, overlapping them slightly.
  5. Fold the other half of the pastry strip over the apples.
  6. Starting from one end, tightly roll up each pastry strip to form a rose shape.
  7. Place each apple rose into a prepared mini muffin cup.
  8. Brush the tops of the roses with melted butter and sprinkle with the remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  10. If desired, brush the warm tarts with warmed apricot jam for extra shine.
  11. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline for uniform apple slices.
  • A Granny Smith apple works well for its tartness.
  • Feel free to add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon mixture.
