Ingredients
Scale
4 (6 ounce) tilapia fillets
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Place the tilapia fillets in the hot skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the butter and minced garlic to the same skillet. Cook for about 1 minute until the butter melts and the garlic is fragrant; do not let the garlic brown.
Pour in the lemon juice and stir the sauce constantly for about 30 seconds.
Return the cooked tilapia fillets to the skillet. Spoon the lemon garlic butter sauce over the fish.
Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving immediately.
Notes
For moist tilapia, avoid overcooking; the fish flakes easily with a fork when done.
You can bake these fillets instead: place seasoned fish on a baking sheet, top with sauce ingredients, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes.
Serve this dish with steamed asparagus or rice pilaf.
