Make a comforting, cheesy lasagna flavor in your Instant Pot with minimal layering and cleanup. This recipe delivers classic taste quickly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water or beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 9 oven-ready (no-boil) lasagna noodles, broken into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground meat and onion in the Instant Pot on the Sauté function. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, tomato sauce, water or broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Stir in the broken lasagna noodles, ensuring they are mostly submerged.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese until combined.
  6. Gently dollop spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture over the top of the meat sauce and noodles. Do not stir.
  7. Secure the lid and set the vent to Sealing. Cook on Manual/Pressure Cook for 8 minutes on High Pressure.
  8. When cooking finishes, allow a Natural Pressure Release for 10 minutes, then carefully perform a Quick Release for any remaining pressure.
  9. Remove the lid. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Cover the pot with a lid (or use the Sauté function on Low for 1-2 minutes) until the cheese melts.
  10. Let the lasagna rest for 5 minutes before serving directly from the pot.

Notes

  • Use oven-ready lasagna noodles; do not pre-cook them for this method.
  • Breaking the noodles into smaller pieces helps them cook evenly in the pressure cooker.
  • If you prefer a soupier result, increase the liquid by 1/2 cup.
