- 2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup or melted chocolate sauce
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 teaspoon sugar or sweetener (optional)
- Ice cubes
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Prepare your espresso or strong coffee and let it cool slightly.
- In a glass, combine the chocolate syrup and sugar (if using).
- Pour the cooled coffee or espresso over the chocolate mixture. Stir well until the chocolate is fully dissolved into the coffee.
- Fill a tall glass completely with ice cubes.
- Pour the milk into the glass over the ice.
- Gently pour the chocolate-coffee mixture over the milk. Stir briefly to combine.
- Top with whipped cream, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a vegan option, use oat milk or almond milk and ensure your chocolate syrup is dairy-free.
- If you use cold brew concentrate instead of espresso, use 1/4 cup concentrate mixed with 1/4 cup water before adding to the chocolate.
- To make a thicker sauce, gently heat 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan until smooth, then cool before using.
