Prepare quick, flavorful salmon bites coated in a sticky honey garlic glaze, finished under the broiler to achieve perfect caramelized edges.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lb salmon fillet, skin removed, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cold water (for slurry)
  • Optional: Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of water, minced garlic, ginger, and black pepper. This is your base glaze.
  3. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of cold water to create a slurry. Whisk this slurry into the base glaze until smooth.
  4. Place the salmon cubes on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have space between them. Drizzle the salmon lightly with the olive oil.
  5. Brush about half of the honey garlic glaze evenly over the salmon bites.
  6. Bake for 8 minutes.
  7. Remove the salmon from the oven. Brush the remaining glaze over the bites.
  8. Switch your oven setting to Broil (High). Place the baking sheet on the top rack, about 6 inches from the heat source. Broil for 2 to 4 minutes, watching constantly, until the edges of the salmon are deeply browned and caramelized. Do not let the sauce burn.
  9. Remove from the oven. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use high-quality, fresh salmon for the best texture.
  • For extra caramelization, ensure the broiler element is hot before placing the salmon underneath.
  • If you prefer pan-searing, cook the bites in batches over medium-high heat until browned on all sides before adding the glaze for the final minute.
