Follow this simple recipe to make oven-baked salmon fillets coated in a sticky, sweet, and spicy glaze made with gochujang and honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub them lightly with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the glaze.
  4. Spoon or brush about half of the glaze evenly over the tops of the salmon fillets.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove the salmon from the oven and brush the remaining glaze over the fillets.
  7. Return the salmon to the oven and bake for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and the glaze is caramelized. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your fillets.
  8. Let the salmon rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a milder glaze, reduce the gochujang to 2 tablespoons and add 1 teaspoon of water.
  • If you prefer air frying, cook at 380°F (195°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, brushing with the second layer of glaze halfway through cooking.
  • Serve this salmon with steamed rice and blanched broccoli or asparagus for a complete meal.
