Ingredients
Scale
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons shallots, finely minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat or in a microwave-safe bowl. Do not let the butter brown.
In a medium bowl, combine the minced garlic, minced shallots, chopped parsley, and chopped chives.
Whisk the Dijon mustard, lemon juice, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using) into the herb mixture.
Pour the melted butter over the herb and spice mixture. Whisk everything together until fully combined.
Stir in the salt and black pepper.
Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm immediately, or chill for later use as a compound butter.
Notes
For a richer flavor, let the sauce sit for 10 minutes before serving so the garlic and herbs infuse the butter.
This sauce works well as a finishing butter for grilled shrimp or brushed over corn on the cob.
If you prefer a smoother sauce, finely mince the garlic and shallots very small or use a microplane.
