Make quick, fluffy donuts in your air fryer with a classic cinnamon sugar coating. This recipe skips yeast for faster results.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For Coating: 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • For Coating: 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • For Coating: 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk the milk, egg, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix the batter.
  4. Lightly spray your donut pan with non-stick cooking spray. Fill each donut cavity about two-thirds full with batter.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully transfer the donut pan to the air fryer basket. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Check for doneness; the donuts should spring back lightly when touched.
  7. While the donuts cook, prepare the coating. In a shallow dish, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon thoroughly.
  8. Remove the cooked donuts from the pan and let them cool slightly on a wire rack for about 5 minutes.
  9. Brush each warm donut generously with the 4 tablespoons of melted butter.
  10. Immediately dip or roll the buttered donuts into the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  11. Serve the donuts warm.

Notes

  • If you do not have a donut pan, you can carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the air fryer basket, but the shape will be less uniform.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the all-purpose flour with a 1-to-1 gluten-free baking blend.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer; cook in batches if necessary to allow air circulation.
