Create a show-stopping, layered Caramel Apple Cheesecake Trifle that requires no oven time. This easy fall dessert combines creamy cheesecake filling, spiced apples, and rich caramel for a perfect make-ahead treat.
1 box (10.6 ounces) refrigerated pre-made pie crusts or pound cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
3 large apples (like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and diced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup caramel sauce, plus extra for drizzling
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
Instructions
Prepare the cheesecake layer: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping. Set aside.
Prepare the pudding layer: In a separate bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes. Gently fold in the remaining half of the whipped topping. Set aside.
Prepare the apples: In a bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir in 1/2 cup of the caramel sauce until the apples are coated.
Assemble the trifle: Use a large glass trifle bowl for the best visual effect. Start with a layer of pound cake cubes or pie crust pieces on the bottom.
Layer the ingredients: Top the cake layer with half of the cheesecake mixture, followed by half of the spiced apples.
Add the next layers: Spread all of the vanilla pudding mixture over the apples. Sprinkle half of the graham cracker crumbs over the pudding.
Repeat layers: Add the remaining pound cake cubes, followed by the remaining cheesecake mixture, and then the remaining spiced apples.
Finish the top: Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce generously over the top layer. Sprinkle with the remaining graham cracker crumbs.
Chill: Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the layers to set. This is a great make-ahead fall dessert.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can use store-bought caramel apple pie filling instead of preparing the apples separately.
If you want to skip the no-bake steps entirely, bake the pound cake cubes until lightly golden before assembling.
To make this a showstopper dessert, use a clear glass bowl so your layers are visible.
You can substitute the graham cracker crumbs with crushed shortbread cookies for a different texture.
