Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (optional, for extra glaze)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Place the cubed chicken pieces in a medium bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until the chicken is evenly coated.
Arrange the seasoned chicken pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven. Pour half of the BBQ sauce over the chicken pieces and gently toss them on the sheet to coat.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 10 to 12 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the sauce starts to caramelize.
Remove from the oven. If using, toss the hot bites with the remaining BBQ sauce and the optional honey or brown sugar for a sticky finish.
Serve immediately as an appetizer or over rice for dinner.
Notes
For crispier edges, you can briefly place the bites under the broiler for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
If you prefer a thicker glaze, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch into the reserved half cup of BBQ sauce before adding it back in step 5.
Use chicken thighs instead of breast for a juicier result. Adjust cooking time slightly if using thighs.
