Follow these simple steps to cook perfect, crispy potatoes in your air fryer, suitable for wedges, fries, or diced pieces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly. Cut them into uniform wedges or 1/2-inch thick fries.
  2. Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika over the potatoes. Toss again until the seasoning sticks.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) for 5 minutes.
  5. Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 5 minutes to promote even browning.
  7. Continue cooking until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the outside and tender inside.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before drying them completely.
  • If you prefer a garlic flavor, add 1 teaspoon of fresh minced garlic during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • Yukon Gold potatoes work well for a creamier interior texture.
  • If using frozen potatoes, cook them for 18-22 minutes at 380 degrees Fahrenheit without preheating the air fryer.
