- 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess water. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes.
- In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until lightly coated.
- Place the coated tofu in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
- Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
- While the tofu cooks, prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
- Once the tofu is crispy, transfer it to a clean bowl. Pour the glaze over the hot tofu and toss gently to coat evenly.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Pressing the tofu thoroughly is key to achieving maximum crispiness.
- For extra flavor, you can lightly spray the tofu with cooking spray before air frying, though it is not required for crispness.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, you can briefly heat the sauce mixture in a small saucepan until it thickens slightly before tossing with the tofu.
