Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth.
Gradually add the powdered sugar to the butter and mix until fully combined and fluffy.
Slowly add the flour, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch) or shape it as desired. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn light golden brown.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use high-quality butter.
If you prefer a firmer cookie, chill the dough for 30 minutes before shaping.
You can press a fork lightly onto the top of each cookie before baking for a classic shortbread look.
